Finding your TRIBE!
“A conscious festival for people who want to #LiveMoreConsciously by improving the way they think, work and consume while doing good in the world. This is a place where fun and social responsibility goes hands in hand.”
I’ve always been someone who truly enjoys doing things for the first time. And I know of many people who prefer familiarity and would often be uncomfortable doing something different and having the fear of unexpected outcomes. If this is something that resonates with you, immerse yourself in it with confidence and pride. We’re not alone.
For those of you who wish to overcome that discomfort to new experiences. The trick is really simple, have zero expectation and go with an open heart. Trust me, this applies to anything and everything. Simply be present and receive. Be accepting of changes and welcome every differences along the way. If you’ve never lead a single day in your life having no expectations, please go ahead and try it today. Surprise yourself =)
I was really glad to be able to attend some talks at the first of its own GREEN IS THE NEW BLACK Conscious Festival previously that took place in May this year. It was something I’ve never paid attention to before and surprisingly, it was such a fruitful day for me. It feels really good to be able to self-educate on global environmental issues that’s actually happening around the world and care about the planet in your own little ways. Being physically able to connect with these people who fight their lives through making positive impacts was not just inspiring for me, but also gave me a really fresh perspective of everything else that matters.
If there’s anything that speaks to your heart and you feel the urge to find out more, my best advise would only be: Do not wait, just go with the flow.
Here’s a few things I’d love to share especially:
Here’s a video that Kim Stengert (WWF) shared which truly touched my heart. #togetherpossible
Another very inspiring speaker who also came and shared her vision towards a sustainable future for fashion was Hannah Parris from Mighty Good Undies. She simply put it down to very simple habits that we can start cultivating now as a conscious consumer.
1. Buy ONLY things that you NEED – Don’t let advertisements alter your own judgments.
2. Start ASKING questions – Where is it made? How is it made? Was this product made using ethical means of production?
3. CUT DOWN on compulsive shopping habits –Now, this may be a difficult one to some of you but ask yourself, do you really need more?
Good news, the next festival is happening this weekend 1st October. Be sure to be there and speak with people who may be able to answer some of your inner questions or doubts. Don’t forget to sign up for the talks! It’d be really worth it =)
